Dear Mom, I Must Send This Letter To Heaven Now

I wrote this letter while you were still alive, I never had the nerve to share it with you because you didn’t want to talk about death and dying. You were focused on living. I have regrets that I never shared this but something tells me, you would not have been ready to read it.

Dear Mom,
You brought me into this world out of love.
One day you will leave this world & I will have to find peace in knowing the deep love we shared. No one can ever take that from my heart.
You were strong for me so many times over the years when I was not able to be strong for myself. I must stay strong for you now.
You taught me unconditional love, because you gave your love unconditionally.

You taught me compassion, because you’ve always had deep compassion for everyone you love.
You taught me how to forgive, by virtue of the way you live your life.
You taught me never to go to sleep angry, because “Tomorrow may never come.”

You taught me how to nurture others, because it came naturally to you. You have continued to nurture others even when you your feeling weak.
Your love for life is contagious. Your love to travel gave me the travel ‘bug,’ and I thank you for that. I don’t think I would have ventured out on my own with my children , memories of the many times we drove to Myrtle beach, and Florida if I had not experienced traveling with you on your own after dad died. You gave me courage Mom.

You gave me the gift of empathy and understanding, because of your own experiences- experiences that could have made you sour towards the world, but you rose above them and made a choice to live your life surrounded by love, not hate.

You taught me the true meaning of life, FAMILY. You never focused on material items, but you always placed a high price tag on how important family is. I remember you telling me many times, “When I’m gone, all you will have is each other, so it’s important to me that you kids always work through things and never hold a grudge.” You succeeded mom, we are all best friends, because you led by example!

You taught me how to be a good wife (to the best of my ability). Again, because you are a nurturer, I was blessed with that gift too and I am thankful that I’ve been blessed to help my husband during his many times of need. I want you to know I love being a wife that is able to tend to her husband who works hard outside of the home to take care of me and our family.

Thank You mom for all the positive life lessons you have taught me. Thank you for being such a wonderful role model! Thank you for your love.
I will always love you to the moon and back!!! I am always here for you, as you have been for me more times than your probably aware. I love you Mom.
